Health Care 

Memorial Hospital of Carbondale is the regional health care provider with 150 beds. The hospital’s affiliation with Prairie Heart Institute has resulted in recognition as a Top 100 Hospital for Cardiovascular Care. Memorial Hospital has only Level II-plus neonatal intensive care unit south of Springfield in Illinois. The SIU Medical School Family Practice Center is located adjacent to Memorial Hospital. The hospital has approximately 1,116 employees.
